Storm and Leon
It’s not very often that I meet a couple who are keen to shoot in wintry, overcast weather…until I met Storm and Leon and their infectious enthusiasm met me at the beautiful nature reserve of Silvermine (I’m embarrassed to say it was my first visit there! First of many!) There is a natural joy and freedom to these two, it was such a pleasure for me to snap away the little moments between them as we made our way around the cool blue dam with the icy wind blasting us, the warmth between these two in stark contrast with the elements! They have a politeness and a thoughtfulness to them which is rare to come across and they are such a pleasure to photograph.
We intended on finishing off with a sunset on Noordhoek beach… as we walked onto the beach we saw a storm over the sea in the distance and thought it was miles away, but within minutes it was upon us and we got soaked and our shoot got cut short! I loved the drama of those few moments, but I have a re-shooting policy if we get rained on! So we met a few days later and in typical Cape weather fashion – it was like the middle of Summer! Not a cloud in the sky… the perfect opposite to our first attempt! I might have got a little bit carried away with the beautiful light – I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed taking them.
